Hub is seen for the first time when Ryo is on a school trip into the woods. The boys confuse the dog for a wolf. The next morning, Yamato leaves to meet up with Habu and learn to hunt. Apparently, the two dogs knew each other already. After some time the two dogs encounter a tiger. The Collie tries to defend its catch from the tiger, but he dies from his injuries.
